We tend to be home alone for dinner rather frequently these days and we usually rustle about for some left-overs or make scrambled eggs; however, once in a while, we feel like a proper supper and this marvelous little recipe recently came to the rescue (scaled for one!). Treat yourself to a lovely piece of sushi-grade tuna and give this a try. We grilled some sliced zucchini to go alongside and had a delightful dinner in the treasured company of our dogs!
3 garlic cloves
½ tsp. each paprika, ground cumin, and chili powder
1 tbs. lemon juice
5 fl. oz. extra-virgin olive oil
4 fresh tuna steaks about 1″ thick
Put the cilantro, garlic, spices, and lemon juice in a small food processor and purée. With the motor running, pour in the olive oil to make a thick sauce. Transfer half to a non-metallic dish and add the tuna. Leave to marinate for 20 minutes, or overnight in the fridge. Chill the remaining purée.
Heat the grill to medium and shake off any excess marinade and grill the tuna 2-4 minutes per side, depending on how well done you like it, turning once. Place on a serving plate, drizzle with the extra sauce, and serve.
