Last Call

With the weather beginning to turn, we’ve been celebrating the last juicy pieces of late summer fruit — plump blackberries, velvety plums, and perfectly ripe figs. We recently served Courgette and Fig Salad with a Yogurt Dressing to kick off a dinner party, finishing up said meal with Blackberry and Lemon Mess, book-ending the entrée course with farmer’s market lode while these sun-ripened, dark-skinned lovelies are at their best. Today, we cooked up a batch of Plum Amaretto Jam for the storecupboard, then threw together Spiced Plum and Blackberry Crumble to enjoy for pudding. For figs, blackberries, and plums, it’s the ‘last call’ — enjoy them while you can!
